When learning Push (reading articles, combing through forums, watching videos, etc.) it can be easy to lose sight of the big picture. I bought Push to be able to help me express musical ideas, but if anything it became a hinderance because I ended up using it to do things I was faster at using a mouse and keyboard. PLAYGRND turns Push into the instrument I always hoped it would be - giving me less to think about so that I can get lost in the act of creativity! Now I'm looking at the computer screen far less and essentially treating Push like an analog instrument. Huge props to Andri for this course!

PLAYGRND puts you straight into making music from the first module onwards. Each module takes you through key features, building up to the final PLAYGRND Live Set. This takes place over 8 weeks (perhaps more if you inspire me to keep going).
Creative Challenges get you learning how to use PLAYGRND's instruments and effect devices from hands-on use. Create ideas and finish track each week for two months or more - go at your own pace.

Andri has taught thousands of students, from complete beginners to full-time professionals. He became a Product Specialist for Ableton in 2014, delivering workshops at all levels, has taught at schools across Europe including SAE Institute and ESRA. His focus is on Ableton Live and Ableton Push, with a particular emphasis on finding creative workflows, improvisational performance, and getting into 'the flow. He believes firmly in doing more with less, and "finding your instrument". Life is short, and limitations and focus bring incredible creativity and results. Describing and mapping out the "landscapes of possibility" to students is key, helping them find their path and to define their own personal quest.

What version of Live do I need?

Live 10.1.43 Standard and upwards. PLAYGRND works with Live 11, Live 12 flawlessly.
Which Push do I need for PLAYGRND?

The Live Set, instruments and effect racks work with any version of Ableton Push; Push 1, Push 2 and Push 3, including Push 3 Standalone. The user guide is based on Push 2, but is very easy to follow if using another version of Push.
What experience do I need to have?

PLAYGRND can be joined by Beginners, Intermediate and Pro users alike. Beginners will learn key Push skills by putting Push to use straight away. Pros will inherit a truly optimised Live Set, with complex, powerful devices within it as well as learning useful tips along the way. Everyone can take on the Creative Challenges and bring something new to the table.
Who is PLAYGRND for?

PLAYGRND really is for anyone. For anyone who owns Push and wants to speed up their music making. For someone who wants to have a stable, powerful setup to get lost in making music with. For those of you who loved the Push Bible and want new challenges and structured learning. For anyone who'd like to have place to be challenged/motivated to make music and share it with others. Do I own the music I make with PLAYGRND?

Absolutely. All the sounds and samples are royalty free. If you buy a license for PLAYGRND you can use PLAYGRND to play live, produce in the studio and publish the music you make with it. The music you make with PLAYGRND is 100% yours. The components of PLAYGRND (instruments, devices, guide, community etc) are licensed for individual use by the purchaser and may not be shared in any way whatsoever, just like any other commercial software, sample pack or online course.
Is this the Push Bible: Advanced Level course?

No, it's something else. The purpose here is not to go into microscopic, exhaustive detail of how Push works (that is what Push Bible is for) but rather to get even closer to a state of flow and creativity, using on the one hand a powerful, flexible Live Set, and on the other exploring this through unique creative challenges.
How do the Challenges Work

PLAYGRND Challenges are musical challenges were I ask you to make something with certain constraints. These might be certain instruments or devices, certain Push or Live techniques, limits to the length of time or clips used. These are inspired by workflows I use for production and live performance, or from techniques shown in the Push Bible, and many other places. Some of the best music I've ever made was when I had to work with quite strict limits (like music competitions). Creative challenges allow for many things; focus, improving techniques, sharing the results with fellow PLAYGRNDers and getting something "done". They're also just a lot of fun :)
Can I start now already?

Absolutely. The first modules are ready and PLAYGRNDers are already making their way through them. Each student receives one module a week, each one including new instruments, effects and challenges, for 8 weeks.
