“What are these!?”

It didn’t take long until I discovered synthesisers too.

Determined to get my own synth. I spent an entire year saving up my earnings from my job at Safeways supermarket.

Throughout that long year of saving I would go into the music shop all the time. I’d be in there so often the staff would give me weird looks 😂

I’d go to gawk at the different synths. I had it whittled down to three options: the Novation Nova, the Jupiter JP8000 and the Nord Lead.

But after a long year of squirrelling away my money. I finally had saved enough. So this time I went to the store to buy my own synthesiser.

I picked the Nova.

And you know what happened?

I got burned.

It was the wrong choice. I didn’t gel with it. The sounds weren’t what I was after.

That Nova still mocks me (ever so gently). It’s sitting in a box in a cupboard.

Now, it all worked out in the end. Because I fell in love with Push (not exactly a news flash by now for you!).  Also, sometimes you have to make a choice to know what's not for you - so thank you, Nova

But as I transitioned from being purely a buyer to running my own business where I too sell things, I never wanted my customers to feel the burn I felt when I realised I’d invested my hard earned savings into the wrong purchase.
