WRKSHP Blog
The nitty & the gritty
Ableton Push & Beyond
Nov 18, 2021
Welcome to the WRKSHP blog, with me, Andri Søren 👋🏻
I'm going to be posting here about what's going on at WRKSHP electronic music school, as well as news, tips and tricks relating to Ableton Live, Ableton Push and electronic music in general. I'll touch upon the online courses at WRKSHP on offer today, such as the Push Bible, and forthcoming content.
It's been a long time that I've wanted to create a blog based on these topics, and I'll do my humblest best (hello grammar) to do this one justice. These can be famous last words - as many a hibernating blog has born witness. In any case, I am truly and genuinely blessed to have readers such as you take some time to hear (well, read) my thoughts, and that time is valuable and precious, sincerely.
The thing is, is that there's just so much to talk about. How this all started, what's happened over the last few years, and what's on the horizon. I've already shared with you some of my own personal story here, so I think for now I'll keep this focussed on things related to the WRKSHP school itself.
I think since I'm filing this under news, I'll start by letting those that have already been accompanying me in my music and on WRKSHP through the Push Bible course, and have been wondering where I've been the last months, is that I am working on something new, something big, and I'm really, really excited about it. As always, it's taking forever, as I've gone back and started again a few times, to get it really right. I really want this to be the best of the best. It's something that I feel will complement the Push Bible, and, well, that's all I'll say for now (sorry 🌝). I have kept in mind so much of the feedback and requests I've had from WRKSHPers and others. While I will keep my cards to my chest on that on for now, what I will do is share here as openly as possible on the WRKSHP blog and elsewhere what other things are going on in the world of Ableton Push 2, Ableton Live and the universe around them.
Now, that's a little about the future (still mysterious I know), but what about the past? I've been updating the Push Bible courses to take onboard any issues that Live 11 has brought up, talking students through the differences and adding mini-guides to using both Ableton Live 10 and 11. I've also been slowly but surely going through each of the 200+ videos and adding subtitles. This has been an absolutely mammoth task, but I really want to add what I see as a key feature to the Push Bible. I also know it can help many of us that like to see and hear text at the same time. What this also adds is the possibility to search within videos for keywords and phrases. Yes - seriously - you can type a word in a search bar and it will show you where it pops up in the video! I've also succeeded in getting the Push Bible qualified for Ableton's Educational Programme - meaning it's now possible to take the Complete (Beginner & Intermediate) course and this qualifies you for an educational discount on Ableton Live. This is a big deal. More info here - if you have any questions write to me.
Speaking about the (near) past, I also have to say how utterly thrilled and honoured I am by the feedback so far on the Push Bible for Ableton Push 2 (and Ableton Push 1 actually - many Push 1 users have joined as well - get in touch if you'd like to know more). The reviews and messages you've left me have been just way, way beyond anything I could have ever imagined. I am humbled and (gently) proud, and it lifts me up as well as putting some gentle pressure on me to keep doing the next things in the best way possible.
What else? So much else. My new 'studio'. My new co-habitants (a dog, a cat and most importantly of all my girlfriend). Dreams of putting more music out there. Of sharing how I did it. Of staying curious and somehow fearless. As always, "being" creative is...wow, so often a beautiful struggle, but now and then things just flow.
I hope that things out there are going well for you, that you're finding your flow in music and beyond.
